
	The plot Dr. Reed Richards, is a brilliant but timid and bankrupt scientist, who is convinced that the evolution is triggered by clouds of cosmic energy in space, and has calculated that one of these clouds is to pass near Earth.With his friend, the astronaut Ben Grimm he wants to study the cloud and uses a private space station owned by Dr. Victor von Doom(great name). Von Doom wants the major share of the profits for his help.They are joined by Susan Storm and her brother Johnny. They travel to space to observe the cloud but Dr Richards has miscalculated and he wants to abort the mission. Victor refuses and it comes to a disaster. Victor closes the door and the four are exposed to the cloud, with Ben getting completly covered in it.They manage to get back to earth but mutate, developing strange powers. Reed can stretch like rubber, Susan can become invisible and create force fields. Johnny can ignite himself to the burning point. Things were worse for Ben, who turns into a rock-like monster, but with superhuman powers. On the Brooklyn Bridge, they use their superpowers for the first time, saving a fire truck and other people. They become media stars and are happy, except Ben. He has been left by his fiancee and is not loved but feared by the people of New York.Reed and the others want to help him and work on a cure together. Unknown to the others, von Doom has also mutated, his firm is bust and he gives Reed the blame.He tricks Ben into giving him his Thing powers.He then takes Reed as prisoner, freezing him to stop his powers.Next he takes out Johnny and also seems to be too much for Susan. In the last minute, Ben restores his mutation and battles with Doom, but alone the fantastic four are no match for Doom. Johnny recovers in time to stop them all being killed but Doom can escape for the showdown. Again it seems that Doom is too strong for the four till Reed remembers how to cool hot metal. Water from a fire hydrant is directed at Doom and he seems to turn into inert metal. The four swear to stay together to fight evil. Doom’s remains are brought to Latveria but the ship is hit home by unusual electronic interferences. At that, the film ends. The villain Doctor Doom is played by Julian McMahon. Prizes and Reviews At the cinemas the Fantastic Four were a great success and worldwide it played in over 330 million U.S. dollars. The reviews were more moderate. In comparison with other comic adaptations the Fantastic Four were attested to be without passion and power, also critized was the somewhat thin story. Especially Jessica Alba received bad reviews, while Michael Chilkis and Chris Evans were unanimously praised for their presentation. Due to the commercial success was quickly clear that there would be a continuation.
